Dear Dixie District Parents,

Please retain this letter for the duration of the current school year.

Due to weather, power failure, or road conditions, it may become necessary to close one or more of our schools.   We will keep each school open as long as we have power, no significant flooding or damage, bus transportation is operating, and students and staff are safely able to reach schools.  The decision on whether or not to close schools will be made by 7:00 am each day.  Listen to radio stations KCBS—740 AM, KGO—810 AM, KSRO—1350 AM for information on school closings, or call your child’s school after 7:00 am to hear a tape recorded message if schools are closed.

Here are the numbers to call for the taped message:

Dixie . . . . . . .415 492-3730
Silveira . . . . . 415 492-3741
Vallecito . . . . 415 492-3750
Miller Creek . .415 492-3760

If you cannot reach your school, call the District Office at 415/492-3700.  Also, you can reach the Marin County Office of Education’s web page for school emergency information.  The complete address is as follows:

If, during the school day, changes in weather or loss of power make it necessary to close a school, we will make every effort to contact you to arrange for you or someone you designate to transport your child.  Please be sure your school office has your current home and work phone numbers.  Please be assured that until we are able to reach you, we will keep your children with us at school.

Sincerely,

Thomas J. Lohwasser, Ed.D.

Superintendent
