California!
Coming to a New Land

This Web Activity was designed by Teacher Mary Ann Rechtfertig for 4th graders who are studying the four regions of California. Students, working in groups, "become" people arriving in California thousands of years ago. Students learn by asking questions, viewing virtual realities, reading, writing, and discussing. They compose narrative essays explaining how they might survive in their new land, and whether or not they would choose to live there.
