STANDARDS-BASED
What is a Standards-Based Report Card?
The Dixie School District’s Standards-Based Report
Card provides information regarding a student’s grade level performance
and progress toward promotion. Students must meet identified criteria
before promotion is granted. Promotion criteria include, but are not
limited to, achievement of district adopted curriculum standards as well
as overall performance in the classroom. The grade level curriculum
standards or benchmarks are identified for Mathematics and Language Arts
(Reading, Writing, and Speaking/Listening) on each K-5 report card.
Purpose
The purpose of the student report card is to:
— Report overall classroom
performance and achievement for each grading period.
— Identify the Dixie School
District’s adopted grade level curriculum standards.
— Report progress toward
achieving the district’s grade level curriculum standards.
— Report progress toward
meeting Promotion Criteria.
— Communicate quarterly
between teacher and parent.
— Identify areas for parents,
teacher, and student to focus for success.
Student Promotion/Retention Criteria
The Dixie School District uses the following criteria
for grades 2-5 to determine promotion to the next grade level:
Performance Grades (grades 3-5) – Letter grades report
overall classroom performance, quality of work, and participation. A
"passing" or "satisfactory" grade or better is expected.
Achievement Toward Standards (grades 2-5) – Curriculum
standards are adopted for Mathematics and Language Arts (Reading,
Writing, Listening/Speaking). It is expected that students achieve
the standards.
Stanford Achievement Test (SAT9) – Scores are expected at
the 25th percentile or better for Total Mathematics and
for Total Reading/Total Language.
